Coimbatore:Five school students who met at a painting class of Master Farooque Sha four years ago, decided to get together to host an exhibition. After three years of assiduous training, the students came out with 90 exquisite paintings at the Young Artist 2014 group painting expo at Sri Seshadri Mahal on 100 Ft road.
However, what steals the show is a massive 3D image of a dinosaur that crashes out of a huge wall and comes charging towards the audience on a 10 x8 ft flex. The artists are presenting a live demonstration of the 3D painting that all five artists collectively painted, in front of visitors on the huge canvas for nearly eight hours. “The huge flex will be put up on the wall and when one stands next to the 3D painting and takes a photograph, the 3D effect is clearly visible,” said S. Hari Prasad, a class 11 student of Stanes matriculation higher secondary school. Heard of coffee painting? The four students have created artistic works with coffee powder.
“We share interests and have been together always. We decided to host a show of this kind so that we could exhibit our creative pursuits in the form of oil paintings, acrylic, water colours. We have done art with coffee powder, too,” said D. Sri Sathiya and J.J. Sushmith, class 10 students of Sowdeshwari Vidayalaya and SBOA matriculation higher secondary school.
“The expo that has got impressive feedback from visitors is the result of three years of hard work. The paintings are not for sale. We wish to take our paintings to other districts in the state to inspire more youngsters to take up painting,” said S. Sanjeev, a plus-one student of SBOA matriculation higher secondary school, and M. Srihari, a class 8 student of GD matriculation higher secondary school.
