Hyderabad: The Telangana government on Saturday curtly told the Centre that it was not possible to implement the norms suggested by it, giving special responsibility to the Governor in maintaining law and order in Hyderabad.

Chief secretary Dr Rajeev Sharma in his reply to the Centre in a  single page letter to the secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, asserted that the state government would follow the Constitution that law and order was a state subject and it would follow norms as per the provisions of the AP Reorganisation Act.

Referring to the MHA letter on Friday to the Telangana government that it should follow prescribed norms and a request that the same should be adhered to, the reply was faxed the same night, it is learnt.

Dr Sharma said on behalf of the state government, “This is to communicate that it is not possible to implement these suggestions as the AP Reorgani-sation Act clearly mentions under Section 8, the Governor’s powers are to be exercised on the advice of the Coun-cil of Ministers and there cannot be any deviation from it.”
