Congress asks Obama government to ‘forcefully confront’ IS threat

Washington/Baghdad: The Islamic State, formerly has called on its members to retaliate against the US as the American military continues to strike their positions in Iraq. “To kill America lies in oil. It must be cut to end the life of America. Destroying the destructive American economy will bring America to its knees, and this is through the supply lines in the Gulf,” jihadist media group Tarjuman al-Asawirti was quoted as saying by International Business Times.
 
Top American lawmakers have supported the Obama Administration’s decision to carry out limited and targeted air strikes against Islamic State militants and asked the US government to “forcefully confront” the challenges being posed by terrorists.
 
US President Barack Obama said on Saturday that air strikes will continue if needed to protect US diplomats and military advisors. Mr Obama said that US strikes have destroyed the arms and equipment of militants.
 
US military planes dropped containers with water and meals to civilians fleeing Iraq. As US jets pave their way, Iraq’s federal and Kurdish forces are preparing their bid to reclaim the lost ground.
