Sachin, the sound engineer who has worked with Oscar winner A.R.Rahman on more than 60 films, acted in a film, Yadhumagi, and been missing from the scene for a while, is back with a new movie, titled Kabadam, which has Tollywood girl Angana Roy sharing screen space with him. A murder mystery, the film is directed by Jothi Murugan, who has assisted ace filmmakers like Selvaraghavan, Radha Mohan and Chimbudevan.
“The lead pair gets engaged. It’s when they start getting closer to each other that they realise that they are at opposite poles, and all hell breaks loose,” says Murugan. “There is some intense romance, it is also a whodunit kind of thriller. I have tried the non-linear pattern of back and forth narration, with several twists and turns,”he adds. Sachin has sung four numbers, composed by Saashi. The movie, produced by Cozha Ponnurangam, has been given an ‘A’ certification by censors.
“The Censors sought many cuts to award the film ‘U’ or ‘UA’ certification. I never wanted compromise on my script; it will lose its sheen if I accept their cuts. They gave an ‘A’ only for the content as the film is devoid of sleazy scenes or vulgarity,” the director says.
