Only state-level staff to be distributed
Committee is expected to meet on August 13 to issue final guidelines on staff distribution
Hyderabad: There will be no distribution of employees at the zonal, multi-zonal and district levels between AP and Telangana State.
The Kamalnathan committee, which is overseeing the distribution of employees, turned down representations by both governments urging that “options” be given at these levels. It said the Centre had mandated the committee to monitor distribution of state-cadre employees, numbering about 52,000.
Undivided AP had 12.41 lakh sanctioned posts, of which 2.56 lakh were vacant. State cadre posts number 76,000. The remaining 9.09 lakh are zonal, multi-zonal and district-level posts.
At the district level, posts are allotted to locals of the respective districts. In the zonal and multi-zonal posts, candidates from all regions were eligible for the 20 per cent non-local quota, which was filled on merit in recruitment exams.
TS employees’ associations allege that the entire quota was allotted to AP employees and there were irregularities to deny jobs to TS natives.
“Several AP employees want to shift to their state and have submitted representations to the committee. They are being turned down on the grounds that there will only be division of state cadre staff. What is the point in denying them the change to shift on their own state,” said G. Deviprasad, president, TNGOs Association.
