Telangana State Sarpanches Association have decided to launch an agitation to achieve their demands

Khammam: The sarpanches of gram panchayats in Telangana are planning to exert pressure on the state government for devolution of powers to them, as per the 73rd and 74th amendments of the Indian Constitution.
The leaders of Telangana State Sarpanches Association have decided to launch an agitation to achieve their demands.
They want delegation of powers to sarpanches, mandal paraja parishad and zilla parishad chairmen, as per Article of 243 (g) of 11th schedule of Indian Constitution.
The Association has urged the government to enhance the honorarium of sarpanches and MPTCs to Rs 5,000 and that of ZPTC and MPP chairmen to Rs 10,000.
