New Delhi: Tracking a weak global trend, silver prices moved down by 0.38 per cent to Rs 43,682 per kg in futures trade on August 12 as speculators partially trimmed positions. At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in September moved down by Rs 165, or 0.38 per cent, to Rs 43,682 per kg in a business turnover of 434 lots.

Similarly, the white metal for delivery in far-month December declined by Rs 141, or 0.32 per cent, to Rs 44,500 per kg in three lots. Market analysts said speculators trimmed positions in tandem with a weak global trend as ebbing tensions in the Middle East and Ukraine boosted global equities, damping demand for the metal as an alternative investment, weighed on silver futures here. Meanwhile, silver traded lower at USD 19.99 an ounce from yesterday's USD 20.01 in Singapore on August 12.
