TSCHE to play no role this year; to only attend meetings convened by ASPCHE

Hyderabad: Following the Supreme Court orders on Monday over the completion of Eamcet counselling by August 31, the AP State Council of Higher Education said it will announce the schedule for web options to enable students to select colleges and courses by August 13 for both states.

The schedule for verification of certificates for TS will be finalised in consultation with the TS Council of Higher Education.

TSCHE chairman Prof. T. Papi Reddy said, “We are yet to receive the SC’s judgement copy. I cannot comment on the issue without reading the judgement copy.” He said they will meet on Tuesday and take stock of the situation and take a call on initiating Eamcet counselling in TS.

APSCHE chairman Prof L. Venugopal Reddy said, “We will meet on August 13 to finalise the schedule for students to give web options to select colleges and courses in the Eamcet counselling. The verifications schedule for TS will be finalised in the meeting in consultation with TSCHE. As per SC orders, we will hold common counselling and admissions and finish the entire process by August 31 and classes for first year students will begin from  September 1.

Official sources said TSCHE which was set up hurriedly by the TS government for holding Eamcet counselling, will have no role to play in the process this year except for attending meetings convened by APSCHE.

With the SC making it clear that the counselling and admissions have to be held as per the provisions of the AP Reorganisation Act-2014, the APSCHE would be the competent authority for the purpose as per the Act.

TSCHE chairman Prof T.Papi Reddy said, “We are yet to receive the judgement copy of the Supreme Court. After going through it, we will respond and decide our future course of action. I cannot comment on the issue without reading the judgement copy.”

Prof Reddy said they will meet on Tuesday to take stock of the situation in the wake of SC orders and take a call on initiating Eamcet counselling in Telangana.
