Ryse: Son of Rome
A few days ago the Internet was set ablaze when Microsoft announced that the visually stunning but otherwise boring Ryse would be making its way on to the PC in 4K glory. Naysayers are harping on about how this is the end of the Xbox One and Microsoft. But, what very few people are considering is that Microsoft might come out on top at the end of the day.

Ryse: Son of Rome was one of the flagship launch titles of the Xbox One and was widely praised for its fantastic visuals but berated for repetitive gameplay.
Another game which is going to be ported to the PC is Dead Rising 3, also a launch title for the Xbox One. With this, most people are jumping on board the Xbox hate wagon and making proclamations of the console’s demise. The argument being that these were Xbox One exclusives and going on the PC will shrink the necessity to have the Xbox One.

While there is merit in that argument, let us look at it from another point of view. The major platform on the PC is still windows, when it comes to gaming. This may very well prove to be a blessing in disguise for Microsoft financially.

This decision to port these titles to the PC, still in essence keeps them exclusive to Microsoft. They will be able to rake in the money, while at the same time reaching out to a broader audience base. It is rare that the term win-win is used to describe the actions of a big corporate, but this has all the potential to be just that.
