Deepika Padukone stays silent

She’s known to be cool and diplomatic when it comes to fielding questions about her personal life — especially her high profile relationships with some of the most eligible bachelors of our time. But Deepika Padukone wasn’t quite her usual composed self at a recent event, when she was quizzed by mediapersons about her holiday in Barcelona with rumoured beau Ranveer Singh.

Deepika was promoting her upcoming film Finding Fanny at the event and had briefed her media handlers that she wanted to answer no questions about her relationship status as it would detract attention from her movie. However, her team wasn’t able to prevent the gathered reporters from asking Deepika about her vacation in Barcelona. Caught off guard, she responded with a curt, “Let’s talk about the film only. I’ll talk about other things later.” The actress — who had walked into the venue in an upbeat mood  seemed quite annoyed by the turn of events.

“After the press conference, director Homi Adajania came to her ‘rescue’ when Deepika was bombarded with questions about Ranveer yet again,” a source present at the event told us.

However, when we contacted the actress’ team for a clarification, her spokesperson denied that Deepika was cross at the questions. “It was a fun event,” her spokesperson said.

Scribes present at the venue said they didn’t understand why the actress refused to talk about what is widely known, and to so many people. “Her Barcelona trip with Ranveer was hardly a secret, so we don’t see why questions about it were so unexpected,” said one of the attendees. When you’re among the hottest young couples in B-town, we guess this is part for the course.
