Hyderabad: State government employees working in Andhra Pradesh Secretariat in Hyderabad have applied for a leave on August 19 to attend the survey of Telangana state government. The head of the departments are in a dilemma whether to accept their leave applications or not, as this falls during the Budget Session of AP, scheduled to start from August 18.

Sources said, in the home department at the Secretariat, around 25 employees applied for leave on Tuesday for TS survey.
One senior IAS officer said no one can deny the employees leave, if they are eligible for it. But with the Assembly Session starting from August 18, all employees taking a leave might create a problem, he added.

Some employees met AP chief secretary I.Y.R. Krishna Rao and asked him to declare August 19 a holiday in view of the survey, but the latter did not agree to it. Telangana state government has already declared it a holiday as everyone has to be present in the house for the purpose of the survey.
The GHMC has tasked employees, working under AP government at Hyderabad, with the survey duty. When the employees brought this to the notice of chief secretary, he told them to ignore the orders.

Meanwhile, some petitions were filed in the High Court challenging the decision of Telangana government on household survey. Some Secretaries in AP Secretariat have decided to wait till August 18 for High Court’s decision and then decide what to do with the leaves.
