Silver moves up in futures trade on global cues

Silver prices rise by Rs 80 to Rs 44,220 per kg on Thursday

New Delhi: Silver prices rose by Rs 80 to Rs 44,220 per kg in futures trading today as participants built up fresh positions, tracking a firming global trend.  At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in far-month December contracts gained by Rs 80, or 0.18 per cent to Rs 44,220 per kg in business turnover of five lots. 

Likewise, the white metal for delivery in September traded higher by Rs 73, or 0.17 per cent to Rs 43,390 per kg in 255 lots. 

Market analysts said fresh positions built up by speculators buoyed by a firm global trend which influenced silver metal prices at futures trade.  Meanwhile, in Singapore, silver traded higher at USD 19.86 an ounce in from USD 19.82 yesterday.
