Jalandhar: A Punjabi film on the assassination of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi will release on August 22.

The cast and the director of the film -- 'Kaum de Heerein' -- were in the city as part of the movie's promotion.

Describing the film as a "historical drama", director Satish Katyal said it has given biographical accounts of Gandhi's assassins and bodyguards Beant and Satwant Singh.

Since the film is based on a sensitive issue, Katyal said he faced a lot of difficulties while making it and was not allowed to shoot at many places.

Gandhi was assassinated by her bodyguards on October 31, 1984.
