New Delhi: Air India flights are not to be delayed even if some passengers, including MPs and VIPs, arrive late. The average age of the cabin crew on board will also be at par with the best competing airlines, with older crew members shifted to ground duties.

Strict action will be taken if flights are delayed due to pilots and cabin crew reporting late. The government has made it clear that “customer-friendly service with efficiency, enthusiasm and cheer” should be the airline’s motto from now.

Cracking the whip, civil aviation minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju has issued guidelines to the loss-making national carrier to improve efficiency. This includes giving an explanation to the government every time a flight is delayed beyond 30 minutes.
