Telangana budget to be growth-oriented
The quantum of budget could be between Rs 75,000 crore to Rs 80,000 crore

Hyderabad: TRS government’s first full-fledged Budget, to be announced in the first week of September, will be people-friendly, welfare and development oriented, assures finance minister Etela Rajender.
“We will not tax people. Our first priority will be funding welfare schemes like distribution of land to landless Dalits, waiver of Rs 1 lakh loan to farmers, pensions etc,” he said.
The finance minister is finalising Budget proposals of various departments in consultation with concerned ministers and department heads and has already completed agriculture, panchayat raj, information technology, education, home, excise, irrigation among other departments. “The Budget exercise is on. We will complete it as quickly as possible. We have a clear vision to develop the new state of Telangana into Bangaru Telangana and all initiatives are towards it,” he said.
Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has been giving top priority to IT, industry, power, irrigation, agriculture and other sectors which have employment generation potential. With the state facing power shortage, the government is planning to make substantial allocation for power sector.
Principal Secretary, Finance, Mr V. Nagi Reddy informed departmental heads that since resources available to the state of Telangana are yet to be finalised, he requested them to do a preliminary exercise on the basis of the budget estimates of last financial year proportionate to the state of Telangana. He also asked them limit the expenditure under non-plan to the minimum required.
The quantum of budget proposed this financial year according to the finance minister could be between Rs 75,000 crore to Rs 80,000 crore.
"We will announce the final budget on the floor of the House. We have a vibrant government under the leadership of CM, Mr K. Chandrasekhar Rao and we will ensure a vibrant budget in tune with the needs of the people of the new state" he said.
He added, that it will have people- industry friendly schemes and policies. Establishment of new industries, IT companies and creation of new infrastructure, employment opportunities for youth, irrigation facilities to farm sector, drinking water, roads, and improvement in services in all sectors are our priorities."
