Centre sends Insurance Bill to select committee

New Delhi: Bowing to pressure from the opposition parties, the government on Thursday referred the Insurance Bill to a select committee. BJP MP in Rajya Sabha, Chandan Mitra will head the select committee for the Bill.
Finance minister Arun Jaitley said that a select committee would examine the bill to increase the cap on foreign participation in insurance.
Other members of the committee are, Mukhtar Abbas Naqavi and J.P. Nadda from BJP, Anand Sharma, BK Hari Prasad and J.D. Seelam from Congress, S.C. Mishra (BSP), K.C. Tyagi (JD-U), Derek O’Brien (Trinamul), V. Maitreyan (AIADMK), Ram Gopal Yadav (SP), P. Rajiv (CPM), Kalpataru Das (BJD) and Naresh Gujral (SAD).
