Hyderabad:Except for some sops for Kurnool city and district, no new schemes are likely to be announced in the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu’s, Independence Day speech.
The Chief Minister will reiterate the schemes already announced in recent times like Anna Canteens, Maa Toilets and pension among others. The AP government is for the first time holding Independence Day celebrations in Kurnool, where the demand is intensifying from the public for the location of the Capital.
Keeping this in view, the Chief Minister will announce some institutions to be set up in Kurnool city and in the district. Among the declarations will be development of Kurnool as a smart city, building a mini airport, setting up IIIT, Solar Park, development of Nandyal as a seed development centre and a railway coach repairing unit.
Deputy Chief Minister K.E. Krishna Murthy, Nandyal MP S.P.Y. Reddy and others met the Mr Naidu recently and submitted a memorandum, requesting setting up of some institutions in Kurnool and in the district and the CM has responded positively. Though the CM will announce some sops in his Independence Day speech in Kurnool the state government is not in a position to annou-nce any new scheme, which will be a burden on the exchequer.
The CM announced Anna Canteens on the lines of Amma Canteens in Tamil Nadu, to be set up in four cities as a pilot project to supply food at concessional rates. Mr Naidu also announced Maa Toilets (our Toilets) on the lines of Namma Toilets in Tamil Nadu.
The state government has already issued a government order increasing social security pensions amounting to Rs 1,500 per month for old people and the challenged. This will be implemented from October 2. The CM will mention all these schemes in his speech along with developing of ports, airports, network facilities in the state among others.
