Telangana traffic cops to get 30 per cent extra salary
Weekly off will also be implemented soon for all police personnel

Hyderabad: Telangana state government has decided to offer 30 per cent additional pay to traffic police personnel to compensate them for their respiratory problems due to working on polluted city roads. The traffic cops will also work in three-hour shifts.
Home minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy said traffic police are the worst victims of pollution. Mr Nayani said, “Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has agreed to pay additional salary to the traffic police like Greyhounds, Octopus and Counter Intelligence and SIB units. Traffic police suffer most due to pollution. We are going to provide them with international standard pollution masks. There will be three shifts for traffic police of three hours each. A weekly off will also be implemented soon for all police personnel.”
He said Telangana state will also recruit 3,000 more constables and home guards soon.
“We plan to recruit more men and provide a budget for all police stations for stationary,” he said adding, “The Telangana government is working to make the city crime free. We are also working on a new uniform for the police department.”
