Mumbai: Gauhar Khan, who has earned herself the title of a reality TV star, is back with her latest TV stint India’s Raw Star (IRW).

Only this time, she won’t be a contestant, but the host instead. Talking about how she bagged the project, Gauhar says, “The production house got in touch with me when they were considering a lot of other people too. I met Gajendra Singh and later was informed that I’ve been selected.”

As in most of her previous shows, Gauhar says she will continue to be dressed to the T even on IRW. She tells us that the channel has given her the liberty to pick her own outfits.

“People loved my style in Bigg Boss and they know that I have a very personal sense of style. The channel understands that too. I plan to wear high fashion clothes on this show and have in mind the biggest designer names in the industry,” she says.

This is the first time that Gauhar will be working with Yo Yo Honey Singh — an association she is looking forward to. About the real person behind the rapper, she says, “People know him as superstar, but he is genuine, down-to-earth and respectful to everyone on sets. I also like the fact that if he doesn’t agree about something, he will just say, ‘this isn’t nice’. That has made me a fan of the person Honey Singh is. I’m look forward to shooting more with him.”

After Bigg Boss, Gauhar has been experimenting a fair bit with her work — she did a music video with beau Kushal Tandon apart from Khatron Ke Khiladi before taking to hosting. “I’ve always followed my instinct. I had no set notions about anything either. I took up Zangoora (a Broadway style show) after the film Rocket Singh—Salesman of the Year released and lived in Gurgaon for two years. Then Bigg Boss happened, later I took up Khatron Ke Khiladi, which was completely different.”

Gauhar started off as a model but says she has no plans to return to it. She says, “My heart was never into modelling. But I like it when I am called to be a showstopper, but that’s it.”

It’s the first time that the actress is hosting a show and says she has realised that it’s more of a responsibility than she had imagined. “It’s not just another element of the show. The audience connects to a show through the host. After shooting the first episode, I got reactions from the team saying, ‘Gauhar you were fabulous and it can only get better. The team has given me full liberty to say what I want — I don’t have a fixed set of dialogues.  Nobody tells me thoda kam baat karo, they let me be myself and that is good for brand Gauhar Khan.”

While Gauhar is clearly enjoying her stint on TV, she adds that she is assertive about not doing daily soaps at the moment. “I haven’t got any offers for daily shows of late. I used to get them before I did Bigg Boss. Unless it’s a mind blowing serial I won’t take it up because I’m exploring films currently.”

While the actress’ chemistry with beau Kushal Tandon was admired by fans in her recent music video, Zaroori Tha, Gauhar says they don’t plan to come together for any other project anytime soon. However if something interesting does come up, she’ll be glad to consider it.
