Students to have time till Tuesday morning before the next batch begins

Hyderabad: Eamcet web counselling began in the two states on Sunday with certificate verification process simultaneously. About 32,000 students were among the first 50,000 rankers eligible to choose colleges and streams on Sunday and Monday. Authorities informed that nearly 55 per cent of the eligible students had exercised their options by Sunday evening.
Eamcet web counselling began at 9 am on Sunday after the first list of approved colleges was given to the AP State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) by JNTU Hyderabad late on Saturday night. List of approved colleges had to be submitted to the Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and education minister G. Jagadishwar Reddy.
According to the Eamcet chief camp officer Dr K. Raghunath, 32,192 students were eligible to choose colleges and streams on Sunday and Monday. By Sunday evening, nearly 17,790 students had already exercised their options in the two states.
Students have time till the morning of Tuesday to choose colleges after which the next batch of 50,000 rankers will begin.
Students had only 141 engineering colleges in Telangana to choose from while those in AP had about 319 colleges to choose from Andhra and SV University regions. However, JNTU sources said that the list of engineering colleges available in Telangana could increase by the time counselling ends.
“Engineering colleges are planning to approach the courts, and if the courts direct us to give time of a month or two, then they might be made available by August 30, said a JNTU official.
