Hyderabad: Professional college managements filed a house motion in Hyderabad High Court on Sunday against JNTU Hyderabad’s decision to deny approval to 174 engineering and 85 pharmacy colleges in Telangana.
Telangana Engineering and Professional Colleges Managements Association chairman Dr Gautam Rao said, “This move by the JNTU will have many ramifications for the current students. Managements will become insecure and faculty will want to move out. But students have to complete four years and they will be the losers.”
However, JNTU authorities said students already studying in these colleges need not worry as the affiliation hasn’t been cancelled per se.
JNTU-H registrar N. V. Ramana Rao said, “Second, third and fourth year students will continue as usual because these colleges are still affiliated to us. It is only that they will not be able to participate in counselling.” He said colleges will be given time to rectify the shortcomings. He said there was no need to issue notices to the colleges as they are aware of the AICTE norms.
