Neha in a bold role
The film is based on crime against women in Society
Chennai: Neha, who is relatively new to Tamil cinema and resembles leading actress, Sneha, has signed a film, Kadhal 2014, which will see her in a bold role. The movie, which has actor Harish in the lead, has as its backdrop the increasing crimes against women in society. Sugandhan, who has worked with filmmakers like Cheran and Balashekaran, directs the film. According to the story, Harish and Neha are lovers who take an adventure trip into a dense forest and are followed by a notorious gang. They tie Harish to a tree and gang rape Neha. The film is about how she comes out of her circumstances bravely, fighting for justice, even as it incorporates a message for today’s youth.
“I have taken a leaf out of real incidents reported in the newspapers. Initially, Neha was nervous about the scene, but I told her that we would shoot it in a suggestive manner only,” the director says. The scene involved several takes before it got okayed, according to sources. Manikandan of Boys fame returns after a gap in a negative role. National Award winner Appu Kutty is also cast in a crucial role.
