Telangana Household Survey in seven submerged mandals hit
7 mandals were transferred to AP for facilitating construction of Polavaram Project
Khammam: Hours after the meeting between Chief ministers of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, MROs in seven mandals that were transferred to Andhra Pradesh have been instructed against go-ahead with the proposed Telangana household survey on Tuesday.
The seven mandals were transferred to Andhra Pradesh for facilitating to construct Polavaram Irrigation Project. But the district officials stated that they would treat the seven mandals as part of Khammam district till the Telangana government issued a notification handing over them to AP.
M Papa Rao, a teacher in the Chintoor, said that the Telangana government has no right to conduct any survey in these mandals because they have been transferred to AP.
Sources said that the issue of continuation of the Telangana administration in the transferred mandals was one of the issues that cropped up during the discussion between the two chief ministers. Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan responded on the issue and asked Telangana CM to stop the survey and accordingly, the government issued a circular to stop the survey in these mandals.
