Karne Prabhakar nominated as the 6th member of Telangana Legislative Council

Two vacant posts were filled up with Naini Narsimha Reddy and Sabavat Ramulu Naik

Hyderabad: Telangana Rashtriya Samithi politburo member Karne Prabhakar has been nominated as the member of Telangana Legislative Council. His appointment orders were issued by Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan and Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwar Lal on Monday evening after clearance from the ministry of home affairs.

The Governor had nominated Mr Prabhakar, an articulate TRS leader and a resident of Samstan Narayanpur village of Nalgonda district, as MLC under the Governor’s quota, but it was held up for approval from the Centre.

“Mr Prabhakar has been appointed an MLC. We have issued orders following clearance from the ministry of home affairs,” said Mr Bhanwar Lal.

As per Section 23 of the Andhra Pradesh Re-organisation Act, 2014, six seats each have been allocated to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states under members to be nominated by the Governor, and in the fourth schedule to the said Act, five existing members were allotted to AP and three existing members were allotted to Telangana state.

Two vacant posts were filled up with Naini Narsimha Reddy and Sabavat Ramulu Naik in the Telangana Legislative Council, leaving one vacant seat.
TS Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao proposed Mr Prabhakar as MLC under  Governor’s quota after the last Cabinet meeting, but the Governor’s office and the chief electoral officer sought clearance on the issue from the Centre.
