14-year-old Ramanagara rape victim yet to recover fully
Ramanagar Police have booked the maulvi, under various sections of POCSO Act
Mysore: A 14-year-old girl, who was allegedly sexually abused by a maulvi in Ramanagar, will be discharged from the Mandya District Hospital soon, more than two months after her ordeal. The girl, who was admitted on June 4, was being treated for a prolonged fever. But the doctors said that the girl is suffering from spinal cord tuberculosis, and her medication should continue for another four months before she is completely cured.
Though the victim has seen some relief and her fever has subsided, she is yet to get over her mental trauma. Her mother told Deccan Chronicle, “Our daughter was suffering from intermittent fever. Her grandmother and some of our relatives thought it was because of some evil spirits and took our daughter to the maulvi. During the first visit, he applied turmeric all over her body and in the next, he injected some medicine through her private parts.
“As the girl was completely bedridden, we had to get her admitted to Mandya District Hospital. She has been discharged. But she still cannot move around properly. She is depressed.” “The girl was brought to us with the complaint that she was suffering from uncontrolled fever. In fact, it was because of spinal cord tuberculosis and she is being treated for that.
She has been discharged, but she has to be under medication for another four more months before she completely recovers,” said Dr Shivakumar K.M., Mandya District Hospital Medical Superintendent. The Ramanagar Town Police have booked the maulvi, Syed Muzeer, under various sections of the POCSO Act.
