Hyderabad:A man was allegedly killed by his friend at the SRT Colony in the old city on Friday. The victim, a childhood friend of the accused, had given an undocumented loan to him. Recently, he asked for the money.
Police said the alleged killer called the victim to his house, and attacked him with boulders, killing him on the spot. The deceased, Sheik Khaja Moinuddin, 33, who was working for the Hathway Cable Network was a resident of Moghulpura.
The culprit, Mazaruddin, 32, is an employee of the Government Printing Press at Chanchalguda, and a resident of SRT Colony. Police, said the duo were friends and frequented each other’s houses. Sometime ago Mazaruddin had approached Moinuddin and sought a loan. As he is a close friend, the victim gave him the money.
“However, even after a long time he didn’t return the money. Though the victim repeatedly asked him, he did not respond. Recently, Khaja started mounting pressure and insisted on the money,” said inspector G. Ramesh.
There were frequent arguments between the duo over the issue, and Mazaruddin plotted to kill Khaja. Police said that he called Khaja to his house on Thursday night, and they had an argument again.
The incident occurred around 1 am on Friday. “Following the argument, he grabbed a stone cutter and hit the victim on the head. He also used a boulder. The victim was killed instantly,” Mr Ramesh said.
The cops reached the spot after being alerted by the locals and examined the crime scene. A murder case was registered. The accused has not yet been arrested. The victim’s body was taken to Osmania General Hospital for postmortem.
