Hyderabad: The Hyderabad bench of the Central Administrative Tribunal on Friday granted five days to the Union of India to explain the procedure adopted for allocation of IPS cadre to the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states. A two-member bench comprising B.V. Rao (judicial) and Minnie Mathew (administration) was hearing the petitions by senior IPS officers S.A. Huda and T.P. Das challenging the notification of the Centre to allocate cadre to both the states.

Mohammad Shafiquzzaman, counsel for the petitioners opposing granting of time, submitted that the irrational temporary allocation has forced several seniors like his clients are now made to work under their juniors in both the states.

Jayaprakash Babu, counsel for the Centre, submitted that the Centre is finalising the final allocation of All India Services officers by Friday evening and would call for objections on this allocation from the officers in the next few days. He contended that there was no point in challenging the temporary allocation when the final allocation is almost in its final stage. The bench said that it will take up the issue on August 27.
