PM Narendra Modi asks Governor to arrange more KCR-Naidu meets
Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan briefed PM Modi on the latest situation in both the states
Hyderabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday complimented Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan for his initiative to break the ice between the warring chief ministers of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and asked him to continue mediating between the two parties. The Governor called on Mr Modi in New Delhi on Friday and according to sources, briefed him on the latest situation in both the states and the recent initiatives he took to resolve some of the contentious issues facing the two.
Mr Modi reportedly observed that the Governor should arrange more such meetings between the chief ministers and concerned officials to ease the burden of the central government. He also asked the Governor to send him periodical reports on all the contentious issues and the efforts made by him (Mr Narasimhan).
The Governor was also asked to give suggestions regarding what the Centre should do regarding these issues so that Mr Modi could instruct the respective ministries to follow up for speedy implementation. Sources said that the Governor also requested the Prime Minister to accord special status to Andhra Pradesh and to disburse the funds that had been promised by the Centre during the passage of the AP Reorganisation Bill. He also sought immediate action regarding setting up the 4000 MW thermal station in Karimnagar to bail out the power crisis ridden Telangana.
