Bengaluru:Armar Abdul Khader Sultan, Armar Shafi, Mohammed Hussain Farhan, Abdul Wahid Sidibappa, Anwer Bhatkal, Salim Ishaqi and Afeef Mota are the news names of alleged jihadis from Bhatkal – a coastal town in Karnataka, who are reportedly involved in militant training in Afghanistan-Pakistan (Af-Pak) region and have India as their main target.
In July the National Investigation Agency officials had reportedly stuck warrant notices on the deserted homes of these fugitive terrorists in Bhatkal asking them to appear in the NIA court on July 20, said official sources.
The Interpol has issued red corner notices against the alleged fugitive terror suspects. “Most of them, including Riyaz, Iqbal Shahbandari and Yasin Bhatkal, had originally met at the Jolly Beach in 2004 to discuss the operational modalities of the IM,” said an official source.
While Anwer was reportedly killed in a raid in Afghanistan border in July this year; Armar, Abdul Khader has emerged as the alleged leader of the newly formes terror outfit – ‘Ansar ul Tawhid ul Hind (AuT),’ which is allegedly an offshoot of the proscribed terror organisation – Indian Mujahideen and has the imprints of the Al Qaeda and the Islamic State of Iraq & Syria (ISIS), said an Intelligence officer.
“AuT is more on the lines of the ISIS and is training the cadres in violent jihad. AuT, which has posed a challenge to the country’s internal security, has Shahnawaz and Mirza Shadab Baig from Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh as their chief commanders.
Abdul Khader reportedly handles the media wing of the terror outfit, which according to official sources, is recruiting vulnerable Indian Muslim youth for insurgency operations on the lines of ISIS.
“Nothing is known about the Armar brothers. Their families have been living in the Gulf countries and they don’t visit India at all now,” said the officer. The first alleged propaganda videos of the AuT ‘Lions of the Hind’ and ‘Kandahar se Dilli ki taraf’ posted on the Youtube last year, which were meant to incite the vulnerable young Muslim youth, had gone viral till it was blocked.
