Funds pour in for ‘dietary kitchen’
Mohanlal leads donors list by donating Rs 50Lakh at Ernakulam general hospital

Kochi: The Ernakulam General Hospital is basking in good days now. In a grand goodwill gesture, several persons including actor Mohanal have come forward to donate liberally for the dietary kitchen at the hospital which supplies nutritious food free of cost to patients and also to the dialysis and cancer units. The hospital wings received donation to the tune of Rs50 lakh with Mohanlal informing P Rajeev MP that he will pay Rs10 lakh for meeting the one month expense for the dietary kitchen.
Several persons and organizations expressed their willingness to boost the dietary kitchen at a meeting held at the hospital. CMRL donated Rs 5 lakh while BPCL said it will run the kitchen for one month.Rajeev also informed in the meeting on Friday that actor Reema Kallingal has expressed her willingness to be the brand ambassador of the campaign to raise funds for the GH. He said that people should be encouraged to support the dietary kitchen when they celebrate weddings, birth days and other special days.
Hibi Eden MLA promised Rs 10 lakh for the linear accelerator being set up at the cancer wing by nominated Members of Parliament including Rajeev. The Joy Alukkas group promised Rs 12 lakh for the coming year for the hospital as part of its corporate social responsibility. Half of it will be used for the dietary kitchen while half will be used for the dialysis unit. Vinayaka Caterers representative handed over Rs 2 lakh to the District Collector at the function. A total of 60 persons representing various organizations including banks, PSUs, private firms, clubs and NGOs participated in the meeting.
