Hyderabad: Telugu Desam standard-bearer and AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday held a meeting with Telangana TD leaders for the Medak Lok Sabha bypoll.
He appointed Kodangal MLA A. Revanth Reddy as party’s chief campaigner for the Medak bypoll to take on arch-rival TRS.

Mr Revanth Reddy has been at the forefront in criticising Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and the TRS government for the last few weeks.

Mr Naidu instructed the Telangana TD leaders to meet state BJP president G. Kishan Reddy on Sunday to find out whether they will be in fray for Medak bypoll. The BJP contested in Medak elections last time as part of an alliance with the TD. If the BJP opts out of the contest this time, the TD will put up a candidate to take on the TRS.

Mr Naidu also instructed the leaders to conduct a meeting with leaders of all Assembly segments under Medak Lok Sabha constituency and form various election committees.

Meanwhile, TD leader in Telangana Assembly E. Dayakara Rao and Mr Revanth Reddy on Saturday met Legislature Secretary Dr S. Raja Sadaram to learn about allotment of chambers for the 15-member TD Legislature party in the Assembly buildings. They questioned why a recognised Opposition like TD has been denied official chambers while the Congress and Majlis have been allotted the same.

On being told by the secretary that there are no specific instructions from Speaker Madhusudana Chary on allotment of chambers, they threatened that the TD legislators will occupy the Chief Minister’s chambers in Assembly, if they are not provided separate chambers within a week.
