Hyderabad: Former minister Suneetha Laxma Reddy stands high chances of being chosen the Congress candidate to contest the Medak Lok Sabha seat in the bypoll to be held on September 13.
AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh, who was here on Saturday in connection with the Telangana PCC workshop, held detailed discussions with party leaders on a suitable candidate.
TPCC president Ponnala Lakshmaiah, Congress leader in Assembly K. Jana Reddy, Congress leader in Legislative Council D. Srinivas, former ministers and MLAs D.K. Aruna and J. Geetha Reddy also seem to favour Mrs Suneetha’s candidature.
Speaking to newsmen, Mr Singh said he will continue parleys with party people for the coming two days and convey the result to the party high command. The last date for filing nomination papers is August 27.
