Nellore:The National Games scheduled for 2019 are likely to be held in Nellore. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu indicated this while responding to a plea by Ms Deepa Venkat, daughter of Union minister M. Venkaiah Naidu and the managing trustee of Swarna Bharat Trust in Venkatachalam.
Speaking on the 13th anniversary of the Trust Mr Naidu called upon the non-governmental organisations to join hands with the government in developing the state. Welcoming the contribution of M. Venkaiah Naidu and industrialists like GMR chief Grandhi Mallikarjuna Rao, the CM underlined the need to emulate them.
“Venkaiah Naidu and I were elected to the Assembly for the first time in 1978. Almost all joined the Congress except 20 legislators, and Naidu is one of them. His loyalty has paid rich dividends, and will for all those with similar virtues,” the CM said.
Mr Naidu talked at length about various campaigns and missions he plans to introduce to put the state on a fast-track development mode. He expressed confidence in making AP the gateway to India by establishing 14 ports all along the longest coast. The Chief Minister sought the support of industrialists to transform the state on par with developed states. Earlier, while launching NeeruChettu programme at Akshara Vidyalaya, promoted by the Trust, he appealed to the people to take up tree plantation as a social responsibility.
Union Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu, state ministers P. Narayana and Kamineni Srinivas, Collector N. Srikant and SP Sendhil Kumar were present on the occasion.
