6 dead, 43 injured as bus hits truck on Indore-Neemuch road

Injured admitted in Jaora government hospital in Madhya Pradesh

Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh: Six passengers were killed and 43 others were injured on Monday when a Nashik-bound bus from Sikar in Rajasthan hit a truck from behind on Indore-Neemuch four-lane road near Manankheda village in the district.

The mishap took place at around 3.30 am as the bus ran into the truck which was carrying cement. Six persons inside the bus, including driver and cleaner, were killed, said Sub Divisional Officer of Police K K Vyas.

The truck was on its way to Ratlam.

The deceased were identified as Mahendra Meena (35), Kishore Singh (32), Ramesh Singh (35), Dr Shyam Deshmukh (50), Santosh Damami (22) and Mukesh Chand (35).

The injured had been admitted in Jaora government hospital. Ratlam's superintendent of police Dr G K Pathak and collector Dr Sanjay Goyal rushed to the spot.

The collector announced an ex-gratia of Rs 15,000 each to the kin of deceased and Rs 5,000 each to the injured.
