Kochi startup’s video ‘Best In World’
Global Hackathon ’14 happened on May 17, 18
Kochi: The video created by student startup CAT Entertainments, here, for the Kochi edition of AngelHack’s Global Hackathon’s Spring 2014 Community Competition has won the ‘Best Video in the World’ award. Startup Village, here, for which the video, showing the momentum for the event and capturing the excitement of participants, has been made, will get the award an Oculus Rift DK 2, a future generation virtual reality hardware.
AngelHack is a US based developer relations agency known for organizing massive hackathons on a global scale. Hackathon events help participant software developers to work on various projects and serve as a networking platform for innovators in the software development arena.
With 5,000 developers, 1,500+ projects, and 35+ global hackathon events in all major international cities, AngelHack is a big name in the developer world.
Startup village hosted the Kochi edition of the Spring 2014 chapter of Global Hackathon on May 17 and 18. The other slots in the competition were for Best Meme and Most Tweets which were won by teams in Tel Aviv, Israel and Atlanta, USA respectively.
CAT Entertainments, a video production company specializing in commercial and corporate video creation, was earlier in the news for making a hit-making Youtube ad for the first State Entrepreneurship Day and it had also bagged the award for the Best Startup of the Year at the Emerging Kerala Business Conclave, held in Kochi, last year. It also produced the largest number of kickstarter campaign videos. (Kickstarter is the world's largest crowd funding platform for creative projects).
Amarnath Sankar, CEO of CAT Entertainments, told DC that it was a proud moment for the company and Startup Village that it got the AngelHack’s award for best video. He also was proud of helping with the Kickstart campaign cause by making videos for the participants without any profit motive. “Being a startup, we believe that it's our responsibility to help and work for the others in the community,” he said about his association with Kickstart campaign.
Apart from being the creative media partner for Startup Village, CAT has also tied up with the BlueMix Project of IBM India and SmartCity Kochi as well.
