BJP to take Telugu Desam's help in Medak Lok Sabha by-poll
Alliance to continue in Telangana as Telugu Desam extends support for candidate chosen by BJP
Hyderabad: Despite much opposition to the continuation of the tie-up with the Telugu Desam by state BJP president G. Kishan Reddy, TD and BJP have decided to work together for the success of Mr Reddy’s candidate in the Medak Lok Sabha by-poll.
Mr Kishan Reddy and senior BJP legislator, Dr K. Laxman, on Sunday visited the residence of TD floor leader in Assembly, Mr Erraballi Dayakara Rao, and announced fielding of a BJP candidate in the Medak by-polls. TD leaders Mr Dayakara Rao and Mr A. Revanth Reddy extended the party’s support to the BJP nominee and said, “We will win the Medak seat and gift it to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
Mr Kishan Reddy said that BJP would decide its candidate on August 26 and was waiting to know who the TRS candidate would be so that the party could decided accordingly. “We will finalise the nominee and send it to the BJP Parliamentary Board and the announcement will come from Delhi,” Mr Kishen Reddy told newsmen.
He said that the BJP and TD would organise joint meetings and raise all burning issues that were being neglected by the TRS government.
The ties between Telugu Desam and BJP may also extend to the coming GHMC polls as both parties have strong presence in and around Hyderabad. In fact both have won majority seats in the city against only one Assembly seat of the TRS.
Sources said that the BJP may finalise TNGO leader Mr Devi Prasad as its candidate if he is not chosen by the TRS. In case TRS decides in favour of Mr Devi Prasad, the BJP may go for Mr Pratap Reddy of Gajwel.
