Tablets, smartphones for Rs 2,200 onwards

Android was the best thing to happen to smartphones and tablets. Seriously, Android, being an open-source and free operating system, made smartphones and tablets cheaper and lighter on the consumer’s pocket.

Well, if not completely true, smartphone and tablet chipsets are evolving faster than we know. Not too long ago, an Android smartphone or tablet would cost you nothing less than Rs 15,000. Presently, with the speed at which the chipsets are getting faster and cheaper, Android-based tablets, and smartphones are getting cheaper than usual.

According to the Computer World, an analyst at Tirias Research, claims that computer chips will be getting cheaper than usual after Allwinner, a chipset manufacturer, will start manufacturing chips for as little as $4 (Rs 250).

Future tablets and smartphones can be disposable, claims the analyst. China, where it all begins from, has already seen the prototypes.

Well, we can already witness the same here—Intex and Spice are one of the first smartphone companied in India, which have released Firefox-based smartphones for as little as Rs 2,000.

Amazon.com has been spotted selling a 10-inch Android tablet for as little as $35 (Approx Rs 2,200) and 7-incher dual-core tablets for as little as $39 (Approx Rs 2,400).
