Mumbai: A new study reveals that women in lesbian relationships and men are more likely to reach orgasm during sex than straight women.

The study, published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine, found that men experience orgasm during sex with a familiar partner 85 percent of the time on average compared to 63 percent for women.

"Lesbians experience orgasm during sex 75 percent of the time, compared to 62 percent for straight women and 58 percent for bisexual women," researchers from Indiana University told a news agency.

The study involved over 6,500 US men and women between ages 21-65.

"One possible explanation is that... lesbian women are more comfortable and familiar with the female body and thus, on average, are better able to induce orgasm in their female partners", the research revealed.

Women also have more varied types of orgasm than men. Overall, men experienced more orgasms in bed than women, the study noted.
