New Delhi: The CBI has decided not file chargesheet against the five accused in the Badaun rape-cum-murder case within the 90 days limit.
This move of the agency will enable main accused Pappu Yadav, to claim bail from the local court as his 90 days of custody will end on Tuesday while for the rest of accused this period will be over on Thursday.
“CBI is not filing chargesheet against the five accused persons, at this stage. However, we have not given clean chit to anyone and further investigation is on,” CBI spokesperson Kanchan Prasad said. She said the agency is now focusing on who could have committed the crime.
Sources said that the decision is based on the report from the medical board which has conclued that sexual assault “looked unlikely.”
