Hyderabad: The body of an infant boy was found in a garbage bin near the RDO’s office on Minister’s Road at Ramgopalpet on Monday.

The boy, aged less than a year, was found by Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation scavengers who came to clean the bin in the morning.

The toddler was wearing an orange sweater and a maroon trouser. It is suspected he was thrown away either by his parent or guardian.

“We were alerted by the municipal staff. There were no external injuries on the body, and it seemed that the boy was abandoned the previous night. However, questions including the cause of death can be answered only after autopsy,” said SI Venugopal of Ramgopalpet.

Cops registered a case under sections 317 (Concealment of birth by secret disposal of dead body) and 174 (suspicious death). The body was shifted to Gandhi Hospital and is being preserved. Local police stations were alerted and lookout notices have been issued for identification.
