Coimbatore: The 24-day-long lawyers’ strike, which badly affected the litigants, was called off on Monday after assurance by judges that their demands would be considered. The Coimbatore Bar Association members were protesting for the last four weeks demanding that  the Annur taluk court  be attached to the court at Mettupalayam.

They also opposed  the functioning of camp courts at Mettupalayam which would involve a magistrate travelling from Coimbatore to Mettupalayam twice a week.  However, ironically, the Mettupalayam lawyers’ association is  continuing the protest, seeking that the camp courts be held at Mettupalayam.
