Bengaluru: Congress heavyweights rushed to claim credit for the good show in the bypolls reminding everyone of the adage, ‘Victory has many fathers, defeat has none.’ The party’s victory in Bellary has come as a shot in the arm for energy minister, D.K. Shivakumar, who was in-charge of the Bellary seat. Bellary was considered a tough seat, as the district Congress unit is split into various factions.

Soon after the results were flashed on local news channels, Energy minister, D.K. Shivakumar said that he delivered what the party had demanded from him. Commending him, KPCC president, Dr G. Parameshwar said it was  Mr Shivakumar who managed to get the 18 aspirants for the party ticket, to work in favour of N.Y. Gopalkrishna.

Realising that CM Siddaramaiah was not getting his due, social welfare minister, H. Anjaneya  stated that  people had reposed faith in the Congress and CM Siddaramaiah's flagship programmes like Anna Bhagya. Immediately after the  results, Mr Siddaramaiah shot down the  promise made by Mr Shivakumar that the cabinet meeting will be held in Bellary to address  public woes!
