The actress to play Vikram Prabhu’s love interest in his next film with Vijay

She holds an engineering degree in computer science, yet it was her love for being in the limelight as a model that turned her into an actress. With just three years in the industry, Kavya Shetty is on a roll with projects in her kitty three South Indian language films. Like many, she aspired to become a model during her college days, which kept her busy posing, eventually winning her Miss Photogenic in 2011 at the Miss India beauty pageant. With one of her modelling photos reaching a film maker, it did not take much time for her to get into films.
 
The actress, who made her debut in Preetham Gubbi directorial Nam Duniya Nam Style, is busy shooting for Kannada film Vijayaaditya starring opposite the Director Special fame actor, Dhananjay. “Well, it all started as a passion for me. When I was doing my engineering, I was modelling simultaneously. Now, it has turned into a serious profession and I am happy that I am able to give my full time to it,” says Kavya, who loves to be in front of camera whether it’s shooting films or advertisements. 
 
Kavya has bagged one more Kollywood project opposite Vikram Prabhu of the Kumki fame,  directed by A.L. Vijay.  She is also awaiting for the release of her Tamil film Avam. Apart from these two, in Tollywood, she stars opposite Navdeep under Legend Pictures banner ready-for-release Natadu.  “Avam in Tamil is a comedy thriller, which is in post-production stage. In Vijayaaditya, I play the role of a glamorous character with a tinge of negative. It is a very interesting role.
 
In Natadu and Avam, I play a simple girl next door,” she says. In her latest movie opposite Vikram Prabhu, she essays the role of a college student. She admits that the film is a fun filled romantic drama which talks about relationships and problems associated with them. Set on a college campus, it’s a romantic entertainer for which shooting starts in Cochin soon.
 
“My character, is a parallel love interest of Vikram Prabhu (more like a love triangle),” she adds. She is also sharing the screen space with another Malayalam actress in the movie. She further says that her ambition is to do good roles which people would remember in the time to come, adding that “While there are no such ‘dream’ roles for me right now, I would want to experiment with all kinds of characters.”
