Lucknow: A minor girl was rescued by farmers after being buried alive in a field in Nevrajpur village in Sitapur district on Monday.

The kindergarten student, Tanu, a resident of Lucknow managed to stick out her face from the mud and screamed for help. She is now undergoing treatment in a hospital. Tanu told the police that she had been brought to Sitapur by her uncle and aunt on the pretext of going to a local fair.

The couple beat her up and then tried to strangulate her. The child fell unconscious. Presuming her to be dead, they took her to a field and buried her. When Tanu regained consciousness,  she kept shuffling in her grave and managed to stick out her head.

“We were working in the fields we heard a child scream. We dug her out of the grave and took her to the hospital,” said Ramrati, one of the women who rescued Tanu. Police have registered a case on basis of Tanu’s complaint.
