Hyderabad: Burglars struck at three houses in Old Ramanthapur early on Tuesday and decamped with over 440 gram gold and over Rs1 lakh in cash. The house owners were away when the thieves entered by breaking locks with blunt weapons. The three houses are located in the same area a few metres away from each other.
One house owner L. Dasaratha Goud and his family had left for a religious function in Karimnagar on Monday. When they returned in the morning, the house lock was broken and the almirahs were opened with all clothes scattered around the room. “Mr Goud complained that gold ornaments weighing 350 gram was stolen from his house. Rs 40,000 in cash was also stolen,” said a cop from Uppal police station.
By breaking into the two other houses, thieves took 60 gram gold from one house, and 30 gram from another house. Rs 70,000 in cash was also stolen. Uppal police has booked a case for burglary and started an investigation. Cops suspect the gang had already noticed the house owners leaving their homes and planned to commit the theft beforehand.
