Hyderabad: Even after nearly 1 lakh seats in Telangana being eliminated from Eamcet counselling after 174 engineering colleges were disapproved, about 30,000 seats will still remain vacant in the TS engineering colleges. Education officials said that only about 55,000 students have exercised their options by the end of counselling on Monday. Allotment orders will be issued on August 30.

Dr K. Raghunath, chief camp officer, Eamcet, said, “Consolidated numbers haven’t come yet, but about 55,000 students have registered and exercised options.” There were 85,455 seats in engineering colleges after 174 colleges were removed from the counselling. Meanwhile, the JNTUH has not sent the list of colleges satisfying the faculty norms, as directed by the High Court on Monday. Sources said that the university is thinking of challenging the single judge order in a division bench of the High Court.
