Bengaluru: Virtually handing over the responsibility of deciding on cabinet posts to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh on Tuesday declared that the CM will hold talks with party president Mrs Sonia Gandhi on whether the Deputy Chief Minister’s post should be created.

KPCC president Dr G. Parameshwar who is emerging as an alternative power centre in the ruling Congress, is an aspirant for this post.

With Mr Siddaramaiah, fresh from victory in the assembly bypolls, being given a free hand to decide on the DCM post, it remains to be seen if he will create a position he has been opposed to. Mr Singh made it clear to ministerial aspirants that he would not interfere in the CM’s prerogative to pick his ministers.

“Meet the CM who decides on such issues. I am here to chair the Co-ordination committee meeting,” he said.

On whether KPCC president, Dr G. Parameshwar had demanded the DCM's post, Mr Singh retorted that Dr Parameshwar had not made any such demand but had only made a request to central leaders.
