Hyderabad:A day after a 20-year-old woman was gangraped by five people, the Medipally police has arrested four of the culprits on Wednesday. The victim has identified the attackers. One of them named Ravi is absconding.

The culprits were identified as Md. Akram alias Immu, Md. Abbas, Md. Zuber, and Md. Shahnavas, all residents of Narapally, and working as autorickshaw drivers. The five member gang abducted the woman, and raped her in the forests of Narapally.

Medipally inspector Ravi Kiran Reddy said the gang followed the autorickshaw of the victim on Monday midnight and stopped the vehicle to abduct the woman. “She was going to Bhongir with her husband and a relative in an autorickshaw from Uppal. She and the other two were drunk  and were making noise while travelling. The culprits, who were coming in another vehicle, followed them,” said the inspector.

Since Narapally was completely deserted the gang stopped the autorickshaw and asked the victims to get into their vehicle. “The gang attacked the driver and drove him away. They took the victims to the forests in Narapally in their vehicle.

Five people raped the woman, one after the other, while the rest caught hold of her husband and relative. Later, they fled,” said Mr Ravi Kiran Reddy.  Cops tracked the gang by identifying their vehicle. “They were travelling in a Tata Ace owned by the absconding Ravi. We found it in a colony in the same area, and caught the attackers,” said Mr Kiran Reddy.

The gang has been booked for rape and kidnap, police said. Police have added sections of the Criminal Amendment Act, 2013. Hunt for the absconding Ravi is on.
