Mythriya Gowda appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for justice
Bengaluru: Actor Mythriya Gowda, who has accused railway minister, D.V. Sadananda Gowda’s son, Karthik of rape and cheating, said on Thursday she would appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for justice even as Sadananda Gowda, who was in Kochi, claimed his son had been falsely accused. Speaking to reporters, the actor said she had filed her complaint because she felt hurt and cheated on learning through the media that Karthik was getting engaged to another woman when they had got married in a private ceremony in June this year.
“My intention is not to see Karthik punished. I want my husband and I urge his family to accept me as his wife,” she implored, denying there was anything political about her complaint. Besides talking to the media, the actor spent Thursday going to the Shirdi Saibaba Temple in RT Nagar and giving interviews to television channels. Police sent a notice to her requesting her cooperation in the investigation while she was on a live TV show. Mythriya went to the RT Nagar police station at 9 pm to record her statement. City police commissioner, M.N. Reddi said the police would act according to the law. “Yes, we will summon him (Karthik) and arrest him if he is found guilty,” he said.
Model and actress Mythriya Gowda , who has accused Union railways minister, D.V. Sadananda Gowda’s son, Karthik of raping and cheating her, said on Thursday she would appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, for justice. Actress told reporters that she had filed her complaint because she felt hurt and cheated on learning through the media that Karthik was getting engaged to another woman. “I have known him (Karthik) since May 8, 2014 when we met through a common friend. He became very possessive and even told me he loved me. He promised to marry me when I kept refusing to have a physical relationship with him. Then on June 5 he took me to his home in Mangalore and privately married me by tying a sacred thread,” she claimed.
Asked whether she had informed Karthik’s parents about their relationship, Mythriya said she had met his mother on August 11 to tell her about their marriage and ask her to accept as her daughter-in-law. But Mrs Sadananda Gowda did not say much in response, according to her. “My intention is not to see Karthik punished. He was in love with me and took good care of me. But for the past month he has started avoiding me. This is when some of his friends grew suspicious. I want my husband and I urge his family to accept me as his wife,” she implored.
In her complaint, Mythriya has said that post- marriage, Karthik met her several times and even quit smoking because of her. "I recorded some of his calls so I could replay them whenever I missed him and in all of them he has frequently referred to me as his wife. He also introduced me as his wife to several of his friends and we even talked about having children. Once, he even said we would have a child if his parents did not give their consent and force them to give in,” she added.
While admitting that she had joined the Congress around three years ago, she claimed her political affiliation had nothing to do with her complaint. Meanwhile, Mr Sadananda Gowda, who was in Kochi, claimed his son had been falsely charged, but said the law would take its own course and he would not interfere in the matter. Responding to the actress’ plea for help, chairperson of the state’s women commission, Manjula Manasa, said she would write to the police department. Mythriya who was taken by the police for a medical examination Wednesday night by the police, was on Thursday served notice for recording of her statement against Karthik.
