Chennai building collapse: Status report with Madras High Court

Chennai: The state government filed a status report in the Madras high court relating to the collapse of the 11-storeyed building in Moulivakkam on June 28 in which 61 persons died. The report stated that the building collapsed due to failure in the structural design and poor execution of work.
 
Advocate general A L Somayaji filed the status report before a division bench comprising Chief Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice M Sathyanarayanan when the petition filed by DMK Treasurer M.K. Stalin, seeking to transfer the investigation of the case to CBI came up for hearing. The bench posted further hearing of the case to October 13.
